Paruppu(Thoor Dal) Idli

If you are tired of regular rice idli this is a nice alternative. My Aunt taught me this variation and my whole family fell in love with this.

Desika Products:

Toor Dal, Idli Rice, Urad Dal, Peanut oil

RECIPE FOR PARUPPU IDLI :

Ingredients:

Idli Rice - 2 cups

Thoor Dal - 1 cup

Urad Dal - 1/4 cup

Methi Seeds - 2 tsp

Peanut Oil - 2 tblsp

Instructions:

  1. Soak all the ingredients together in a bowl for 3 to 4 hours

  2. Grind to a rava consistency and ferment it overnight

  3. Next day morning add salt to taste , peanut oil and mix throughly

  4. You can either use regular idli plates or make the idli in plates

Tips & Tricks

  • Do not skip methi seeds

  • Adding oil after fermenting makes the ildi soft and fluffy
